چکیده

Abstract Background Plant growth regulators are widely used in agriculture for increasing the and ripening of plants, but they endanger aquatic ecosystem. The current study assessed effect sublethal exposure to RIPEX 48% EC concentrations (8 16 µL/L) on oxidative stress parameters, sex hormones, immune potential enzymes, differential hemocyte counts, histopathology digestive glands ovotestis Biomphalaria alexandrina snails. Results caused an overall increase Superoxide dismutase Glutathione-S-Transferase activities B. . However, extreme inhibits SOD activity Malondialdehyde showed exposed both after all periods. also a significant testosterone snails µL/L, it did, however, reduce hormone levels 8 µL/L at 7 days. Regarding estradiol, there was 3 days µl/L µL/L. increased Myeloperoxidase Adenosine deaminase enzymes It total count as well number granulocytes. Snail pathological alterations exposure. Conclusions These findings suggest that is toxic this snail can be bioindicator environmental contamination with plant regulators.

Effects of Snail Density on Growth, Reproduction and Survival of Biomphalaria alexandrina Exposed to Schistosoma mansoni

The effects of snail density on Biomphalaria alexandrina parasitized with Schistosoma mansoni were investigated. Laboratory experiments were used to quantify the impact of high density on snail growth, fecundity, and survival. Density-dependent birth rates of snails were determined to inform mathematical models, which, until now, have assumed a linear relationship between density and fecundity....

Physiological and biochemical responses of lettuce plant to the allochemical compound of paraxanthine

IIn this study, the effects of paraxanthin on lettuce were investigated. Paraxanthin is a group of purine alkaloids, secondary metabolites of plants. This compound is made up of the caffeine metabolism found in plants such as tea, coffee and cocoa. There have been previous reports of paraxanthine antihypertensive properties.Three different concentrations of paraxanthine as 10, 50 and 100 µg/ml ...

Inheritance of Schistosoma mansoni infection incompatibility in Biomphalaria alexandrina snails.

In this study, we looked at the inheritance of susceptibility and resistance to Schistosoma mansoni infection in the first generation of crossbred Biomphalaria alexandrina snails. Our ultimate goal is to use such information to develop a biological method of controlling schistosomiasis. We infected laboratory-bred snails with S. mansoni miracidia and examined cercarial shedding to determine sus...

Responses of some Nigerian vegetables of plant growth regulator treatments.

The effects of single and combined growth regulator treatments of indole-3-acetic acid (IAA), gibberellic acid (GA3) and coconut milk on plant height, yield, chlorophyll and vitamin contents of Abelmoschus esculetus L and Solanum gilo L were investigated. The single growth regulator treatments consisted of 50mg/L, 100 mg/L of IAA and GA3 and 10%, 15% of coconut milk. In case of combined growth ...
